ما هو حرف الجر( preposition) ؟
حرف الجر( Preposition ) في اللغة الإنجليزية : هو عبارة عن كلمة مكونه من حرفين فأكثر تسبق عادة الاسم (أو الضمير) وتجرّه وتقدم لنا الصلة القائمة في الجملة بين المجرور وكلمة أو كلمات أخرى تسبق حرف الجر ولها (معاني ووظائف) عديدة سيتم التطرق لها في هذا المقال .
معاني حروف الجر :
تتنوع وتتعدد حروف الجر ومعانيها في الجملة وسنقوم اليوم بالحديث بالتفصيل عن حروف الجر في اللغة الإنجليزية واستخداماتها ومعانيها حسب مواقعها الإعرابية المختلفة في الجملة، والتصاقها بالعديد من أدوات الجملة ومكوناتها مثل الأسماء والصفات والأفعال وغيرها .
حروف الجر البسيطة :
أولا ً : حروف الجر الدالة على الزمان ( time ) :
حرف الجر ( on ) :

حرف الجر ( at ) :

تعابير زمنية تبدأ وتنتهي بحرف جر:
- at the end of / في نهاية .
- at the beginning of / في البداية .
- since the end of / منذ نهاية.
- in the event of / في حالة.
ثانياً : حروف الجر الدالة على المكان ( place ):
حروف الجر ( at , under, in front of , to ) :

| In a chair على الكرسي | Ali is sitting in his chair |
حروف الجر( with , from , behind , between , on) /للمكان (place ):
